The Absa #SheUntamed initiative aims to empower women in cycling by creating a supportive community. Launched in 2019, it provides training, resources, and opportunities to encourage more women to participate in the sport. By breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of belonging, Absa #SheUntamed empowers women to reach their full potential in cycling.

Bakang Tshidi Ebudilwe - Gaborone, Botswana

"As a rider in the SheUntamed initiative, I found my passion for cycling blossoming alongside a supportive community of women. One standout rider, Mamello, inspires us with her determination; she overcame challenges and completed her first Epic, encouraging others to push their limits. Another incredible person, Caroline, brings joy and energy, leading a group of women with her infectious spirit. Together, we’re breaking barriers and redefining what it means to be a woman in cycling."

Mamello Letsie - Johannesburg, South Africa

"My story matters because I started my journey as a complete beginner with no skills; and ended with me successfully completing the ABSA Cape Epic with 4 months to get ready. This was made possible by being connected with experts & experienced riders that imparted their knowledge."

Baveesha Naran - Benoni, South Africa

"The Sheuntamed initiative has been surprising like home to me. Where we are loved, nurtured, and helped throughout. Our every need is considered, and all efforts are channeled towards our success. It's a beautiful sisterhood that's turning dreams into reality."

Sarah Hill - Johannesburg, South Africa

"Female-focused cycling initiatives like Absa #SheUntamed are crucial for levelling the playing field in the sport. They help to dismantle barriers that prevent women from participating fully, such as a lack of representation, gender stereotypes, and inadequate support structures. By providing resources, training, and community support, these initiatives empower women to overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their cycling goals. Additionally, they play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of female cyclists, ensuring a more diverse and equitable future for the sport."
